The re:nature Campus Beseland
"Being allowed to be essential"
Residential and seminar business
We are delighted to welcome you to our very own seminar house in the Wendland (northern Germany) – a unique kind of think and feel tank. We ourselves live here with our two small children and see ourselves as guardians of our 6,500 m² property. Our guests are temporary co-residents and support this place in their own way through financial contribution, but also through their very being. Our seminar operations therefore combine professional offerings with a family atmosphere.
Everyone should be allowed to be essential
Not only people are supposed to be essential here: frogs, wild perennials, fruit trees, Erich the squirrel – and yes, of limited popularity – are house mice are also part of our habitat.
Ecological and plastic-free
Since purchasing the property in 2013, we have carried out ecological renovations and continuously expanded it: the seminar room in the garden in 2014, the natural swimming pond in 2015, and a conservatory with a dining area and seminar kitchen in 2020. Oiled wooden flooring, solid wood furniture, clay plaster with ecological paint and organic cotton bed linen create a cozy, nature-inspired atmosphere – some even refer to a stay in Beseland as an „educational holiday“.
Since 2017, we have aimed to keep the house as plastic-free as possible. We have researched for a long time to find alternatives and are happy to share our experiences as ecological inspiration – with the awareness that absolute freedom from plastic is quite unrealistic for a seminar business.
Our house from 1734 - in a round village
A village in a round shape
Our house no. 7 is located in the small round village of Beseland (14 farms) in Wendland, far away from larger towns. At night it is quiet and dark, the stars shine countless. The old half-timbered farmsteads are arranged in a circle, surrounded by fields and forests that are home to foxes, hares and kites - a place full of charm and closeness to nature.
A little bit of Switzerland in northern Germany
Behind our garden begins a diverse forest with pines, oaks, birches and beeches – the „Clenze Switzerland“. Here we find peace, connection and inspiration. Drought and climate change are also making our landscape vulnerable, in re:nature approach therefore we are simultaneously working on the renaturalisation of people and land.
The re:nature Campus – A brief tour
On the south side of our timber-framed house dating from 1734, a large garden with fruit trees, ancient oaks and cosy corners stretches out like a «slice of cake». The natural swimming pond invites guests to swim and linger with the frogs and dragonflies. The sauna is a particular favourite for participants during seminars in the winter months – with a plunge in the icy pond included! Living and learning in one place.
Our guest rooms
The seminar area features double and triple rooms in the attic with three bathrooms, a lounge with a library and tea station. On the ground floor, located in the conservatory extension, is the light-flooded dining room and a stylishly furnished seminar kitchen. In the garden stands our self-designed octagonal seminar room modelled on the medicine wheel – a wooden structure with large windows and views of the greenery. In addition, a small sleeping cabin is available in the garden as further accommodation.
